If you come from a large family, you know how challenging it can be to coordinate everyone for a group photo. Getting everyone together for a picture is no small feat—when you finally manage to get your parents seated at the front, your siblings seem to vanish, and just when your siblings are in place, your parents disappear. This ongoing struggle can be so exhausting and frustrating that you might even promise yourself never to attempt it again!

Now, imagine the added challenge of trying to capture all your pets in a single shot. If wrangling people is tough, capturing multiple pets is an entirely different nightmare. Even with just one pet, taking a decent photo can be a trial since they hardly sit still for more than a moment. The results are often blurry, and there’s a good chance your furry friend won’t even make it into the frame.

Kathy Smith, a 30-year-old from Corwen, Wales, was set on capturing a photo of her 17 pets all in one shot. Her lively household includes eight dogs—Ruby, Ben, Max, Sheba, Teddy, Rio, Storm, and Mishka—as well as nine cats, four budgies, several fish, and a baby hedgehog. With such a large and diverse family, there’s never a dull moment in her home, and the fun is multiplied!

When Kathy decided to photograph all 17 of her pets together, she knew it wouldn’t be an easy task. Managing a household with that many animals is a challenge in itself. Nevertheless, she was determined to make it happen. While it was relatively simple to keep her dogs in one spot, getting her cats to cooperate proved to be much trickier. After several attempts, she finally succeeded in capturing a moment when all her pets stood together for the photo. With excitement, Kathy exclaimed, “I was overjoyed when I realized I had captured this shot—it feels like a little family photo!”

If you’ve enjoyed viewing this beautiful family’s photos, why not try capturing your own pets in a single frame as well?
