Dogs are some of the purest beings on Earth. Even the simplest moments, like going for a walk or greeting their owners after a long day, bring them immense happiness.
Most dogs would agree that there’s nothing better than being out in nature. However, for some dogs, particularly those with disabilities, enjoying the outdoors can be a bit more difficult.
Navigating rough terrain can be especially challenging for dogs that rely on wheelchairs. Dense vegetation, uneven ground, and water obstacles can all pose serious difficulties for them.
Beaches, with their vast stretches of sand and water, might not always be accessible for pets, which is a shame considering how much dogs love them.
That boundless happiness you feel when you’re at the beach? Dogs experience it with an intensity that’s tenfold!
Salima Kadaoui was determined to give her 18 disabled dogs the chance to experience the beach just like any other dog.
She founded the SFT Animal Sanctuary in Tangiers, Morocco, where many of the animals she rescues have sustained permanent injuries, often from being hit by cars and left abandoned.
Despite their challenges, Salima rarely gives up on her dogs, believing that with the right care, they can still lead happy and fulfilling lives.
On July 4, she took several of her pups on a special beach outing to demonstrate the power of rehabilitation.
Even with only their front legs functional, the dogs joyfully raced alongside Salima from one end of the beach to the other.
Just imagine lounging on the sand, hearing a sudden burst of excitement, and looking up to see 18 dogs zooming by in wheelchairs!
The beach is filled with dogs of all sizes, from a tiny corgi to a massive German shepherd. It’s amazing how much of a difference canine wheelchairs have made, even helping save lives.
With their wheels attached, these dogs can run just as fast as their able-bodied friends, making it hard to tell that they can’t use their back legs.
There’s even a bit of humor in the mix! A playful corgi grabs Salima’s shoe, shaking it around in its mouth before finally returning it to her.
In another clip, a cheeky dog is seen racing down the beach, biting the wheel of a friend’s wheelchair while they both zoom along at full speed!
This is clearly a joyful group of dogs, and it’s heartwarming that Salima was able to give them the life they deserve.
It’s undeniable that these dogs carry a sense of pride.
They also offer valuable life lessons for us humans. How many of us, whether we face challenges or not, often compare ourselves to others and long for what we don’t have?
We can learn a lot from dogs — particularly, how to appreciate what we have rather than fixating on what we lack.
A video featuring Salima and her puppies has garnered approximately 1.5 million views.
In an interview with The Tale Trender, Salima shared insights about her rescue mission, saying, “We care for around 600 animals at the sanctuary, including dogs, cats, horses, and monkeys.”
She had a full schedule, but what a delightful task it must have been!
