Wells Fire Department Captain Jeff Nawfel took the lead in calming a husky and gaining its trust, allowing the dog to safely return inside its home in Maine, USA.

Throughout history, dogs have been loyal companions to humans, known for their remarkable ability to assist in times of need. These skills have proven invaluable, helping to ease various tasks both around the house and in rural settings.

Sometimes, our animal companions need a helping hand to navigate difficult situations. Such was the case for a charming husky recently seen in the town of Wells, Maine, where the dog appeared to be in need of human assistance.

A video shared on the Wells Police Department’s Facebook page shows a dog that had been chained to the roof of its home, unable to move or respond to its owners’ calls for help.

What initially appeared to be a minor issue turned into a situation that required the help of the local Fire Department, who ultimately stepped in to safely rescue the dog without any harm.

To win the dog’s trust, the firefighter reportedly climbed onto the roof of the house and worked to calm the animal. Once they established trust, the firefighter gently picked up the dog and carried him back inside through the window, leading them safely into the house. But just before entering, the dog paused to give the firefighter a kiss on the cheek, seemingly as a gesture of gratitude for the rescue.

“Captain Jeff Nawfel of the Wells Fire Department is being thanked for rescuing an adorable puppy that had become stuck on a roof. The Wells Police Department shared the news, along with a video, and credited Officer Steve McDonald for capturing the moment.”

He expressed his gratitude, writing, “Thank you to everyone who reached out and contributed to his rescue.” This rescue mission took place in 2018.
