A dog was rescued near Lytham after spending the night submerged in a lake.

A German Shepherd was spotted this morning (March 25) near the shores of Fairhaven Lake. Thanks to the combined efforts of the Lancashire Fire & Rescue Service, Lancashire Police, and local residents, the dog was successfully rescued. The dog is now safe and in the care of the neighborhood RSPCA.

The Veterinary Health Centre is currently looking after the dog. To reclaim the pet, the owner will need to provide proof of ownership. The police are conducting searches in the area surrounding the lake to help locate the dog’s owner and are requesting the public’s assistance in providing any relevant information.

According to a social media report, which Fylde Police are aware of, the German Shepherd had been stranded in the water after spending the night at Fairhaven Lake.

“We can confirm that our colleagues from Lancashire Fire & Rescue, along with members of the public, successfully rescued the dog, leading to an excellent outcome,” police said.

The local RSPCA is now providing care for the dog. In an effort to find the owner, we will be reviewing CCTV footage from around the lake area.
