Wally faced many challenges when he first arrived at the Town of Islip Animal Shelter. As a stray, he was around 10 years old and had clearly spent most of his life outdoors. However, all Wally needed was someone to love him, and his new shelter companions quickly stepped up to shower him with the affection and attention he had been longing for.

Wally faced significant health challenges, including a severe skin condition and blindness in one eye, which contributed to his unique appearance. His new friends worried that his looks might deter potential adopters, but they remained optimistic that others would recognize the wonderful dog they had come to love.

“He’s a slobbering sweetheart who will do anything for food,” said Danielle Gorle, a veterinary technician at the Town of Islip Animal Shelter, in an interview with The Dodo. “He also enjoys simply hanging out and taking it easy.”

Wally is overflowing with love and is eager to find a family to share it with. Unfortunately, this beautiful puppy has been waiting at the shelter for nearly a year.

Wally, an elderly dog, longs to spend his golden years in a peaceful home, and his rescuers are working diligently to find him a forever family as soon as possible, as life in the shelter is taking a toll on him.

“Gorle noted, ‘He seems to be declining. When he first arrived, he was cheerful. He loves going out, but he looks unhappy in his kennel.'”

Wally would flourish in a quiet environment without stairs, children under 15, or other pets. He needs a family that understands his medical requirements, but above all, he craves love and is ready to give it back unconditionally.

Wally has faced many challenges in his life, but now all he desires is to spend his remaining days surrounded by a loving family who cherishes him.
