Agea Santos made a heartfelt promise to always stand by his beloved animal companion, Alvin. After Alvin suffered a stroke, he could no longer stand as strong and tall as before. “I’ll take care of you until the very end, my furry child,” Agea reassured him.
Caring for a pet is a huge responsibility, much like raising a child. A pet depends entirely on your love and attention. While there will be both joyful and challenging moments, the most important thing is to always stay by their side.
Experienced pet caregivers go to great lengths to ensure their companions can continue enjoying life, even when their bodies no longer function as they once did. Agea Santos, from Salvador de Bahia, Brazil, faced the challenge of adjusting her daily routine after her beloved dog, Alvin, suffered a stroke, and she took action to make sure he still found joy.
Alvin used to love playing in the water and running in the rain. Now, unable to move or stand easily, Santos gently cradles him in her arms, allowing him to still feel the rain on his fur and enjoy the sensation of water, just as he always did.
In a video shared on Instagram, Alvin unexpectedly collapses during a walk, but his owner quickly rushes to lift him up, allowing him to enjoy the rain once again.
Alvin still loves the feeling of swimming and running in the downpour. After all they’ve been through, Santos longed to recreate that happy experience. “My little furry boy, I will care for you until the very end,” Santos wrote. He also expressed his gratitude in the post, saying, “I’m thankful to my wife Ray for taking such good care of him.”
In another video, Alvin is seen joyfully running around in the rain, serving as a heartwarming reminder for all pet owners.
“Treasure your furry friend while they’re still young and healthy, as time passes quickly,” Santos shared. He noted that the video was recorded two years ago, shortly after Alvin’s stroke, and that since then, he has aged and struggles to walk properly.
After suffering a stroke that left him unable to move or see on his left side, Alvin is slowly relearning how to walk. Santos shared that Alvin had been receiving both physiotherapy and acupuncture, which greatly aided his recovery. He plans to resume these treatments soon, as they have been incredibly beneficial in helping Alvin regain his strength.
