Two Spanish police officers demonstrated exceptional courage and dedication when they swam across a frozen lake to rescue a puppy trapped in the freezing water. The officers from Guardia Civil, stationed in Jaca, Spain, stripped down to their waists and braved the ice conditions to save the helpless animal, as reported by Reuters.

The dog had been stranded for hours on Tuesday in a reservoir in Canfranc, Aragon, in eastern Spain.
In a video of the rescue, one officer is seen using a wooden staff to push through chunks of ice while swimming, while the other officer wades in to support him.
Before all three made it back to shore, the officer and his colleague cleared a path through the ice for the dog to swim safely to land.
The rescue was captured on video, which the police force shared online, where the officers were widely praised for their compassionate actions.
